Built in just eight months, the Hungaroring hosted its first Formula 1 Grand Prix on 10 August 1986. The venue near Mogyoród established a permanent home for international circuit racing close to Budapest. Its measurements also tell its history: the original 4,014-metre lap was altered in 1989 and 2003, with the operator recording 4,381 metres since the latter change. Successive corners make it a technical circuit that rewards a consistent rhythm. The modernised venue offers more than its major race weekend. Own-car driving is available only through separately advertised OpenDays. Guided visits are another programme with their own registration, and a race-calendar listing does not permit an unbooked drive.
